Hibiscus - Framed Woven Cross Stitch

$175.00

Hibiscus 🌺 — Framed Woven Cross Stitch

This world is full of vibrancy, moments that catch us by surprise, and contradictions that delight our souls. Addis Ababa, Ethiopia is like any bustling capital city — noisy traffic, congested streets + sidewalks, and lots+lots of commotion. And over the last thirteen years of traveling to Addis, not only has the city grown, but I have also witnessed their concerted effort to beautify it with trees, green spaces and parks. One of the main roads downtown is lined with gorgeous hibiscus plants. So, for the reimagined #photostofibers collection, I drew inspiration from this photo I took of the hibiscus flowers outside our home away from home in Addis.

I set out to create a vibrant cross-stitch weave of those beautiful flowers that at first sight may seem out of place for a bustling city-center, but quickly have become that warm welcoming sign of being in Addis Ababa — and with a name that translates to “New Flower”, hibiscus-lined streets are actually pretty perfect. I turned my original photo into a digital pattern that I could cross stitch in a “pop art style.”

My original photos will also be available for purchase. If you would like to purchase the print of the Hibiscus, it is available here.

Size: 11”W x 14”H x 1”D

Color: Coral, Fuchsia, Peony, Snapdragon, Hot Pink, Aloe, Fern, Eucalyptus, Ocean, Aqua, + Teal, Framed in a Grey Wooden Shadow Box

Previously Sold. If you want me to recreate something similar, please contact me.

With every sale, you choose a project you would like to support. My hope is that it would connect you to some incredible work that is being done around the world. Together, we are #knotjustthreads, we are an interwoven tapestry and when we come together, beautiful things can happen.

I have been intentional with the organizations I have chosen to support. I know that it is not only important to know where the money goes, but to know that the work is being done in sustainable ways to produce a long-lasting impact. Having personally partnered with each of these organizations in the field, I have seen how they practice love in action.
