Reflections on Lake Hawassa — Woven Tapestry
There are some moments in life, that are simply beyond words, experiences that alter the way we live, and the all-to-brief of time I spent in Hawassa is one of them. This serene scene of Lake Hawassa was the breathtaking backdrop that encouraged me to pause + reflect on some pretty big feels. So, for week ten of #100daysofphotostofibers, I drew inspiration from this photo I took of the last hour we spent in Hawassa.
I set out to create an abstract weave, combining multiple textures + hues of eucalyptus, seafoam, slate + mint. Incorporating indie-dyed yarn, core-spun wool, recycled silk + chiffon, and organic cotton this weave supports seven women-run small businesses.
