Super Moon - Round Weave

$145.00

Super Moon — Round Weave

The moon is so mysterious. To think that we’ve only ever seen one side of it with the naked-eye boggles my mind. There is so much unknown “out there” — which delights my soul to keep learning, to keep searching, to keep discovering because there will always be more we don’t know that we do. So, for week five of #100daysofphotostofibers, I drew inspiration from this photo I took while in Ethiopia of February 2019’s super moon. At an elevation of over 7,700 feet, I literally felt close enough to reach out + lasso the moon. To date, this is my favorite moon sighting.

I set out to create a round moon weave packed with so many new to me techniques + fibers as a way to experiment with adding depth + capturing the romantic mystery of the moon. Incorporating both corespun + handspun fibers from other small businesses with squishy merino wool, there are so many details woven into a 10” metal frame that can either lean on a shelf, or hang from any “point.”

For #the100dayproject, my original photos will also be available for purchase. If you would like to purchase the print of The Super Moon, it is available here.

Size: 10” Circle, with 1.5” circle inside

Color: White, Ivory, Winter, Alder, Grey + Sea Salt within a metal frame

Previously Sold. If you want me to recreate something similar, please contact me.

With every sale, you choose a project you would like to support. My hope is that it would connect you to some incredible work that is being done around the world. Together, we are #knotjustthreads, we are an interwoven tapestry and when we come together, beautiful things can happen.

I have been intentional with the organizations I have chosen to support. I know that it is not only important to know where the money goes, but to know that the work is being done in sustainable ways to produce a long-lasting impact. Having personally partnered with each of these organizations in the field, I have seen how they practice love in action.
